ZOMIE! MEDIA PRESENTS @ ALBERTA STREET 11/15

Tuesday night we threw together something special. It was the first of this new series of Zomie! shows to be completely acoustic. There’s something to be said about playing solo like that. You’re seemingly so vulnerable up on stage and it can be really fucking awkward at first without your band backing you up. But in turn it becomes a positive, unique experience and Tuesday night was a proven success and I can’t wait to do it again.

I opened up the show with several songs I don’t normally play with Old Cross to switch it up a bit and get the night rolling. Next up was Jake McLoud (Throw, Unreal). I’ve been a fan of Throw for years and love watching them live. It was great to see him jump on an acoustic and I hope there is more of that in the future. His covers of “Just the Two of Us” and Marcy Playground’s “Sex and Candy” had the crowd singing along and glued his set together perfectly. Hoping to hear an album from him eventually!

Third was Stab In the Dark’s Gary Dean. It was rad to hear him play some new songs we’ve been working on in the studio including one of my favorites “Ship to Sail.” He also played a cover of the punk rock classic “Sorrow” by Bad Religion. It was his first time stepping out into the acoustic realm but you would have no idea because of how natural he is on stage. Keep an eye out for a release date on their new record!

Closing out the night was Scotty Preston from Raise the Bridges! Scotty is such a captivating artist. He’s one of the most sincere performers I’ve seen and Tuesday was no exception. If you have a chance to catch him and/or Raise the Bridges I suggest you do it.

Well, I’ve taken enough of your time! Next Zomie! show is 12/20 at Alberta St Pub! Details coming soon. You don’t want to miss what we have planned for this one. Love ya’ll! -Chris
