About
It is my belief that punk rock is the most sincere genre of music in this insane culture that we live in. It has guided us through uncertain times in our lives, kept us up til sunrise with our best friends and in it's 40+ years morphing through society it has built a community of individuals who together create mindful, chaotic, sophisticated, simplistic art that is unapologetic. With sub-genres on top of sub-genres these days punk rock (in my opinion) has taken it's truest form to date.
Everyone has that first band that grabs a hold of them. Mine was Guttermouth. I was 9 years old when my sisters gnarly boyfriend literally threw their tape at my head. A few weeks later I decided to put it in. I remember listening to ‘Race Track’ wondering what the hell I was about to get myself into and immediately wanted more. From there I got into the Nitro/ Fat Records catalogs and it was all over for me. In the midst of this awakening, my dad bought me a Tascam MF-P01 4 track cassette recorder. I developed a basic understanding of recording fairly quickly and started tracking all my friends hardcore and pop punk bands by the time I got into High School. From there I kept learning as much as I could until I finally decided to get a recording degree. I then interned at World Famous Studios in Denver, CO under Producer/ Engineer Pete deBoer and then eventually relocating to Portland at Black Diamond Studios under Producer/ Engineer Matt Jefferson.
Even though I am indeed a punk rocker I love working with all genres and all walks of life. I’ve worked on Pop songs, Hip hop songs, Americana, Country, helped arrange music for plays... you get it. I can’t wait to see what I can get my hands on next. Where do I go from here? I guess this is it. Let's put out some great records.
